City of Irvine's William Woolett Aquatics Center:
Description: Henrikson Owen and Associates teamed with Carrier Johnson Architects to provide engineering services on the City of Irvine’s William Woolett Aquatics Center. This was a significant project to upgrade the City’s Aquatics Center, and to construct a new building for aquatic offices, support facilities, and the three large pools. The new Aquatic Center is used both by the public and by the adjacent high school for swimming practice and competition.
The project involved construction of a new two-story, 16,000 square foot building. The building includes a main entry/lobby, administrative offices with observation area; a staff change area with lockers, bathroom, shower, and dressing space; a public change area with lockers and showers; public rest rooms; a concession area; janitorial and storage room; mechanical and electrical room; and staff storage area.
The project also included rehabilitation of an existing 3,200 sq. ft. bleacher structure under/in which pool equipment is located, as well as addition of new pools.
The new William Woolett Aquatics Center cost $8,000,000. It came on line in 2004.
